Many people try to get more involved in the preparation of their wedding these days, even when it comes to designing their wedding invitation card. Of course, not everyone is familiar with design and printing and this can be something that is quite worrying, but that does not mean that it is not possible for amateurs to make their own wedding invitation card.

If you are one of those who are confused and don't know where to start from, there's no need to worry. Here are the steps and tips that you should do when it comes to the preparation and production of your own wedding invitation card:

1. Wedding Invitation Theme

Of course, your wedding invitation should have a clear theme. Preferably, this theme goes along with the theme of the wedding as well so that the guests of your special day can at least perceive what kind of occasion it is. Some weddings are more formal than others, some are more casual. If your guests can take a guess which one is yours, you give them the idea of how to dress more properly for your wedding.

2. Wedding Invitation Font

Consider the style as well as the size of the font according to the theme of the wedding invitation. Of course, you also have to think about the comfort of the reader. Meaning that the font style that you choose can't be difficult to read and the size must be no less than 8 pts.

While calligraphy-like font styles are not preferable for most of the other occasions, they are actually good for wedding invitations, however not to be used too much. The calligraphy font style can be used on parts that require extra emphasis such as the name of the bride and the groom to make it more elegant and beautiful. Experimenting with different typefaces to see whether or not they look good with the design of your wedding invitation is important before you make a final decision.

3.  Shape and Size

The shape and size decision for your wedding invitation can affect the amount of money that you have to pay for the production. The larger and more intricate the shape and size is, it will most likely cost you more. Large wedding invitations will also cost more in the mail because they might be heavier and exceeds the maximum dimension for the normal delivery fee.

But of course, as long as you have the budget for it, then you are free to make it in any way you want. Just make sure that it does not become a hassle for the guests especially if they have to bring the card to the wedding as a sign of invitation.

4. Wedding Invitation Colors

The colors that you choose for your wedding invitation are definitely important because colors can create different impressions and trigger different emotions once seen by your guests. Of course, the colors that you choose must match the theme that you have chosen at the very first start. Make sure that all the colors used on the design of the wedding invitation are complementary and that they work well with each other.
