Tasks As An Event Manager

As an event manager, your tasks are broad: from the conception to the organization and implementation. You are involved in every step of the event.

In the conception phase, your marketing knowledge is essential. After all, you need the vision to attract relevant visitors. This is where you can make an initial cost calculation and present your ideas.

When it comes to concrete planning, you will have to pick up the phone a lot. You organize service providers, draw up schedules, create lists of participants and clarify questions.

You will not only spend your time in the office but also at the location on site. When the event finally starts, the stress does not decrease. While others are having fun at the fair or going off at the after-party, you pull strings in the background. After all, as the event manager, you are responsible for ensuring that everything runs smoothly.

Typical tasks in event management:

  • Conception, organization and implementation of events and conferences
  • Creating a budget and coordinating contracts
  • External service providers, such as food or audio and video technologies, are within your control.
  • Drafting of invitations and registration websites
  • Participant and feedback management
  • Design and ordering marketing materials such as professional foam board

Career Opportunities

With an internship in event management, you can try out whether the practice corresponds to your ideas before or during your studies. After completing your studies, you can also start as a trainee and gain vital experience step by step and make contacts.

If you get into event marketing as a junior project manager, you will oversee sub-projects and work in teams on more significant events. Once you have demonstrated your organizational talent, you will quickly advance to the position of Project Manager.

As a Senior Event Manager, you are the figurehead of your company, and above all, you take care of the top events. With growing professional experience and responsibility, your salary naturally grows too.

If you prefer to do your own thing, you can do your own business with enough experience. It should be clear that you have to organize everything yourself, especially at the beginning of your self-employment.
