Graphic Design 101: Part 1

Graphic design is a skill that is quite needed today, many businesses in Singapore need graphic design services to advance their marketing. But becoming a graphic designer is not easy. Besides having to know trends, a graphic designer must also be able to understand the target audience well. Of course, some steps must be taken before starting to work on the design. A designer must understand the basic principles of design in order to produce a great design. What are some basic principles that a graphic designer should know? Check out the explanations below.

Line
A line will always be found in every design, either in the form of dots which then form into lines and so on. A line has only one dimension. A line can be straight, curved, or in different directions, such as horizontal, vertical or diagonal. Each form has a different function. Can be used as a text barrier, to direct the audience to a certain point, or as a decoration.

Shape
A shape is formed from several lines that are combined and it has dimensions of length and width. This is an object that has two dimensions. A shape is the most used design element after line. Shapes consist of squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, and others.

Colour
Colour is one of the most obvious design elements. Colour creates a mood. Each colour represents something different and the combination of colours can change the meaning. In the context of a brand, colour can tell a story and a message to be conveyed. This relates to the psychology of colour, how colour can affect a person's emotions and soul. You can use a contrasting colour between the background and other elements. So that each element can be seen clearly. Do not let the background be more striking and the content is not visible because of choosing the wrong colour.
