What are the Types of Brand Imagery?

Brand Imagery isn’t just photographs. There are other options to think about when deciding on which images to best tell your brand story. You aren’t limited to just using one approach, but there needs to be a comprehensive imagery strategy no matter which direction you choose. Here are the basic types of imagery:

  • Photography.
  • Illustration.
  • Image Design.
  • Infographic.
  • Icons & Symbols.

Headspace is one organization that use this effectively. Their whimsical illustrations and pleasing color palette help to denote a calming and positive brand style.

Adobe‘s imagery is bold, creative and inspiring. Their product images like high-quality sticker printing have been created with the relevant software program it’s promoting, further enhancing the creative potential when using their products.

GoPro is another great example. Although a lot of their photos on social are user-generated, their content and the styling of their imagery both work to represent the brand: daring, adventurous, active.

And finally Mailchimp. They have a very distinctive color palette and illustrative style but they pair this well with their use of photography, which is generally people focused, as this is part of their brand.
