Important Key Points in Sticker Printing and Designing
Perhaps you are only familiar with stickers for decorations. Indeed, stickers are often used for decorations, whether small stickers or large stickers for windows. But in fact, stickers have a lot of benefits. Even, it can gain you money. If you design stickers, you can sell them for a price. Or, you can also use stickers to promote your business' products or services. Whatever you use your stickers for, it is very important to pay attention to the design and printing of the sticker so that you will get the best results at the end and get the most of it.
So, if you are ready to design your stickers, here are the things that you must remember.
1. Color Processing
Know that there are two kinds of color processing familiar used in printing: CMYK and RGB.
Your printer uses CMYK colors for the inks which will be mixed to create the colors that you want. Meanwhile, your computer monitor displays RGB colors and there are also the colors that are used by default for design software.
A lot of beginners make the mistake of designing in RGB and printing in CMYK. This will as a result produce colors that are not accurate which will make you feel unsatisfied with the outcome. Now, to make it accurate, you also have to design your stickers in CMYK.
If you already make your design in RGB, don't worry. You can, later on, convert the colors to CMYK so that you will get the best results possible.
2. Break Up Large Solid Color Areas
As you design your stickers, it is best that you don't make a large solid color area because this is quite difficult to process with CMYK colors. If you insist on designing a sticker with a large solid color area, then you have to use Pantone colors which is a lot more expensive. So, it is better to break up large solid-color areas for best-looking stickers with affordable CMYK processing.
Printing the stickers is not enough. You should also add finishes such as coating to make it shinier and more durable. Coating adds an extra protective layer that does not only make your sticker look better but also more resistant to moisture and other possible damages so that you can ensure its longevity.
4. High-Quality Printing
To get the best printing result, you have to work with a professional printing service instead of trying to print your stickers on your own with an office or home printer that is not suitable for high-quality printing.
There are several different materials that are common to be used for sticker printing. They differ in price and of course quality as some are thinner or thicker than others. Many people settle for vinyl material because it is one of the most durable and at the same time affordable for best quality stickers. If you choose a material that is too thin, it will be easy to deteriorate. So choose carefully.
