The best family movies on Netflix are perfect for happy evenings with kids. Here are the best tracks in alphabetical order:
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (2005)
Tim Burton's remake of the classic children's book by Roald Dahl remains one of the most bizarre and colorful children's films of the last few decades. Michael Jackson inspired Johnny Depp for his ingenious portrayal of the company owner Willy Wonka, who wants to hand over his chocolate factory to the best child successor.
"Spirited Away" (2001)
Many Studio Ghibli films, mostly directed by animation legend Hayao Miyazaki, are available on Netflix. These imaginative and visually stunning children's films are sometimes a bit too much for very young children.
"Spirited Away" (as the English title is) is probably the best-known Miyazaki film about a little girl who involuntarily plunges into a world of ghosts and has to endure wild adventures.
"The Castle in Heaven" (1986)
An early masterpiece by director Hayao Miyazaki for his animation studio Studio Ghibli is this exciting narrated cloud adventure set in the future and about air pirates and a girl with supernatural abilities. But that's only the first five minutes. After that, it just gets wilder.
"Hotel Transylvania" (2012)
Dracula (Adam Sandler) finds a hotel for monsters in this hilarious comedy about the bloodsucker as a caring father who wants to save his daughter from humans.
But then she falls in love with a person of all people. Chaos is inevitable in this charming animated film about tame monsters and dangerous people. The two sequels are also available on Netflix.
