"My Neighbor Totoro" (1988)

This family drama by Hayao Miyazaki tells a simple but moving story about traumatized children who make friends with fantastic creatures from the forest.

The cult film among the Studio Ghibli films is one of the more sophisticated and best children's films on Netflix.

"Mrs. Doubtfire" (1993)

Robin Williams is at his best in this family comedy from "Home Alone" by director Chris Columbus. Williams plays a chaotic father who loses custody of his three children.

When his wife (Sally Field) is looking for a nanny, he disguises himself as an old British lady and becomes her housekeeper to be close to his children. The crazy story is told with a lot of heart and humor.

"Princess Mononoke" (1997)

Director Hayao Miyazaki's fascination with the wonders and dangers of nature finds its most epochal expression in this rousing fantasy-action-adventure about a young warrior who gets caught between the fronts of a war between two strong women. More like something for older children.

"Space Jam" (1996)

Michael Jordan, Bugs Bunny & Co. compete against some particularly ugly aliens on the basketball field in this slapstick fantasy comedy. The R'n'B and Hip Hop soundtrack is a dream, and the jokes bubble up on big and small viewers. Great fun, not just for basketball fans.
