Footer Area

The header and footer serve as a framework for the remainder of the page. The footer, however, is more than simply a visual element; it may also provide sources and, if appropriate, address or contact information. It's the only place where the font size doesn't have to be read at a distance of 1-1.5 meters.

Background

Often, posters are not just highlighted with one color but with an image or structure. This should fit the theme of the poster printing and not disrupt the flow of reading. When in doubt, choose an unstructured color background rather than a background that is distracting.

Fonts

Both serif and sans serif fonts can be used in a poster. Longer texts should avoid sans serif fonts. However, because this isn't the case with posters, both kinds may be utilized.

Decorative typefaces should be avoided in general since they are difficult to read. The use of bold typography is appropriate for emphasis. It's best to avoid using italics or underlining.

If justified text is used for parts of the text, make sure that hyphenation is turned on. It is preferable to use the left-justified flutter replacement to eliminate significant gaps between words. A line should not have more than 70-90 characters in it. To increase readability, texts with several lines should have a broader line spacing. The line spacing is usually 20-30% greater than the font size (e.g., with a font size of 40 pt, the line spacing should be 48-52 pt).
