The space between composed elements is the white space. If your elements of design are too compacted and dense, the content becomes a difficult thing to read. You can use whitespace to guide viewers across a composition and create balance. This can create an elegant feeling or include a communication to your typography. Example FedEx logo makes use of whitespace to make a counter form that includes secondary communication level. This whitespace is used to create elegance and simplicity.
