Typography in graphic design is the art of creating written texts and images with the use of fonts. There are different types of fonts, like serif, sans serif, script, etc.

The choice of typography depends on the theme of the message one wishes to convey to the viewer.

More often than not, the choice of typography is also dictated by the type of format the text will be printed on; for instance, in cases of posters and flyer printing, the preferred type of typography would be a Times New Roman or Arial type.

Use of Proper Typography

Typography in Graphic Design refers to the proper arrangement of words in a document or any graphic image.

Using proper Typography in Graphic Design involves planning the typeface, the placement of characters, and the size of the text in relation to the background. Designing using correct Typography lies in making the balance between the three elements, which are the size, colour, and typeface.

Good typography in a poster orients the viewer's eye from the main subject or idea in the middle of the text to the focal point, which should then be the most attractive feature of the poster.

By following some simple guidelines, it is easy to create such a successful information hierarchy. It is always better to maintain the focal point in the background while the text is set at the top of the page. Good typography in a graphic is an effective way to make the most available space in a design.
