The word "Internet of Things," or literally "IoT," has been around for a while. But, first and foremost, what is the Internet of Things? What is it made up of, and why is it known as that?

All will be explained to you in this post. We live in an era of interconnection, with 60% of the world's population connecting to the Internet, and it's odd to find anyone without one smartphone or Internet communication at home.

So much so that a movement is known as «the Internet of things» was born to address this. This post is precisely what we will discuss today since it is a non-tangible phenomenon for many citizens who do not fully comprehend what it entails.

What Is The Internet of Things (IoT)?

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a global network that connects computers, users, and the Internet itself.

It enables data sharing between them, enabling crucial details on the usage and output of devices and artifacts to be collected for detecting trends, making suggestions, increasing productivity, and improving user experiences.

As a result, the Internet of Things resembles an abstract idea. It's the connection between, say, your mobile and the smart devices you have at home that power lighting or air conditioning.

Is it a Raspberry Pi that manages your TV's programming, or is it a robot vacuum cleaner that you program from your computer to clean your house automatically while you're away?
