As companies increasingly mould their corporate identity, they generally consider how to best display it to their target audience. Aside from visual logos, images, and emblems, typography is another way to resonant with your target audience.

Still, many marketers sometimes pay little attention to typography designs believing that simple icons and graphical symbols alone can represent their company better. 

Typography designs, however, goes beyond just making a few visual symbols stand out against a white background. In fact, some experts argue that a well-designed logo or symbol can in many ways help promote your company than elaborate logo and icon designs.

Below are some of the top reasons why some designers prefer not to use cartoon characters or stylized imagery for their typography designs: 

Poor Typeset 

When it comes to typography design, typeface sets the mood for your entire design. The choice of font depends on the overall design.

Still, more importantly, the typography design incorporates the text, which then becomes the image masking or image that will make the overall design appear less cluttered.

One example of this would be hand-drawn typography designs instead of computer-generated images. Hand-drawn typography designs require a unique set of brush tools, pen, paper, and colour inks that cannot be duplicated using computer software. 

Poor Typeface Choices

One of the most common complaints against cartoon fonts is that they lack a shape that complements the printed image. Many designers do not understand that having a poorly chosen typeface is one of the leading causes of poor quality output.

For this reason, most designers revert to the old school and resort to cartoon typeface for their typography designs.

However, cartoon typefaces were not explicitly developed to be used for designing business letterheads or marketing flyer printing: Most of these typefaces were developed for other reasons.
